I had a great weekend in Manchester meeting up with old friends. It was nice to get away for a few days. When Ben goes away I like to have lots of things to do to make the time pass quicker. We reminisced, gossiped, drank cocktails, went to the cinema to watch Tamara Drewe (which is brilliant by the way) and just generally had a lovely time. My friend and I also took part in the Great Salford Swim. It was a really awesome one mile open water event through the docks of Salford quays.
The water was a balmy 14.5 degrees Celsius (that's around 58 degrees Fahrenheit). This is probably why I'm suffering a bit today. We all had to get in prior to our heat to acclimatise to the temperature. It was bloody freezing!! But as it turned out it was pretty much the perfect conditions for open water swimming. So much so that I did under the 30 minute mark! 29.48! I'm so chuffed, I've been trying to achieve that time all summer. The atmosphere was great. Much better than the Great East swim. There is a shopping center in the middle of Salford Quays so there were hundreds of people cheering as we swam past. I did fear that I may swallow something nasty swimming in the docks, but I didn't, it was surprisingly clean and clear. I did manage to spot a shopping trolley beneath me at one point though!
I might be feeling a bit under the weather today but this little fella was waiting for me when I got home last night.
Isn't he cute? He's been made by the lovely Olivia of secretly loves pink. I love her blog and I love her Etsy shop. You should go and check her out!
I really hope I feel better soon. I'm missing a friends birthday dinner tonight and I really don't want to take anymore time off work. I also have a VERY exciting Friday night ahead of me. I've managed to get Strictly Come Dancing tickets!!
I think the American version is Dancing with the Stars. I can't believe it. Apparently they are really hard to get hold of and on my first attempt I've managed to get some!! I've been watching the show for years but have never tried to get tickets before. I'm going with a girl from work who loves the show as well. We're heading down Friday afternoon to queue and make sure we get in. Even if you've been lucky enough to get tickets they still don't guarantee that you can get in. They give out more tickets than seats to make sure the studio is full. I really pray it's not a wasted journey and hotel bill!
I hope you've all had a lovely weekend!
